Scott Munro Thomson, who was born in Aberdeen on 29 January 1972, was a key player in the Pars` success in the early part of the 21st century.
After a spell at Shrewsbury Town he returned to Scotland in 1990 to join Brechin City and then home-town club Aberdeen in November 1991. He was unable to establish himself as a regular there and Raith Rovers paid the Dons £75,000 for his services in March 1996.
After two and a half seasons at Stark`s Park he was brought to East End Park by manager Bert Paton and made his debut in a 5-0 away defeat to Celtic on 1 August 1998. His first goal for the club was scored in a 2-0 home win over Dundee on 13 March 1999.
Although the club was relegated from the Premier Division that season they were promoted the following season under Jimmy Calderwood who rated Thomson highly and made him captain in 2002/03.
A versatile player who was at home playing in defence or midfield and occasionally on the wing, `Nipper` missed the 2004 Scottish Cup Final through injury although he played in the 2006 League Cup Final, both of which were lost to Celtic.
Injury caused him to miss the whole of the 2006/07 season but the club rewarded his long, distinguished service with a testimonial match on 8 August 2007 against a Manchester United XI which included Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney and Paul Scholes.
His last game for the Pars was the 2-0 Scottish Cup semi-final defeat to Falkirk on 26 April 2009. Having made 306 appearances for the club and scored 22 goals, he played a few games for East Fife at the start of the 2009-10 season before retiring from the game.
